Willie's Biography
Place of Birth: Aberdeen
Educated: Robert Gordon University, University of Abertay,
Qualifications: BA Public Policy and Management, MSc Human Resource Management and currently studying for an LLB.
Special Interests: Community involvement, Diversity, Social Justice and Equality
Leisure Interests: Football. I'm a qualified Scottish football referee and am active most Saturdays and Sundays with schools football. I'm also former secretary to the Aberdeenshire and District Football Association. This role included looking after the administration of the Aberdeen International Football Festival.
Occupation: Director of Deeview Homes Limited, Presiding, Justice of the Peace. Now a member of the Children’s Panel Advisory Committee
I was born in Aberdeen and spent my early years living in the Castlegate. My parents moved to Cults and I was educated at Cults Academy. I am married to Hazel and have two grown up children in Rebecca, 22 who is studying to be a children’s nurse and Nikki, 20 who is currently a student.
I joined the Labour Party in 1978. In my early years as a party member I helped out the late Bob Middleton and in have spent the last 10 years helping out Anne Begg MP.
I want to be elected to the City Council as Councillor for the Bridge of Don because I want to become greater involved in my local Community. Having served my community on the Children’s Panel and as a Justice of the Peace at the District Court, I understand the needs and frustrations of communities and how fragmentation leads to confrontation. It is my strong belief that only the return of a Labour led administration can fulfil the true and real ambitions of the citizens of Aberdeen
